How Do I Use Standard Chartered Straight2Bank for Trade. Access, LC and BG Creation, and What Still Needs Your RM?
Straight2Bank for exporters. Entitlement and onboarding, trade document workflows, and where a corporate-oriented platform expects a relationship manager.

What is Straight2Bank and where is the trade module?
Straight2Bank is Standard Chartered's corporate banking channel. The structural fact worth getting right before you go looking for a menu: it is one channel family , not a set of separate sites. Cash, trade, and securities services all sit behind a single unified login, and the trade module opens from inside that login rather than at its own address. If someone in your team is searching for a "Standard Chartered trade portal" separate from Straight2Bank, they will not find one for India.
The naming has moved more than once, which is why old bookmarks and old search results disagree with each other. The current-generation build is Straight2Bank NextGen (still the identifier in the mobile app and in the bank's market user guides) while the bank's marketing now says simply Straight2Bank. It replaced a legacy build referred to as Straight2Bank Classic, whose name survives inside some current Securities Services documentation. Treat all three names as the same channel at different ages.
| Channel | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Straight2Bank Web | The browser channel behind the unified login. Trade opens from inside it; the bank documents the paths S2B Menu → Trade Finance → Trade Banking and S2B Menu → Trade → Create |
| Straight2Bank mobile app | Balance enquiry, payment authorisation, mini statement, trade enquiry and trade authorisation. Approving and tracking trade, not full initiation |
| Host-to-host and API channels | The bank's global channel page names H2H, SWIFT or EBICS connectivity plus APIs for volume integration from your ERP |
| FX platform (India: Online Treasury) | A separate proprietary foreign exchange trading platform. Not the S2B trade screens. India markets it as Online Treasury; the global page names a different platform, so confirm which one your entity is entitled to |
| Retail net banking | Unrelated to trade. If you have landed on a personal banking login, you are in the wrong channel entirely |
How do I get Straight2Bank access with the Setup and Maintenance Form?
There is no self-service registration for Straight2Bank. Access is granted, not claimed. The instrument that grants it is the Straight2Bank Setup and Maintenance Form , which lists the accounts, the services and the individual user entitlements you want enabled. Standard Chartered's published guide to completing that form states that it must be signed by approving signatories "in accordance with the mandate or board resolution or power of attorney or similar documents provided to Standard Chartered at account opening".
That single sentence is the whole board-resolution question answered. Standard Chartered does not ask for a fresh, portal-specific board resolution the way some Indian banks do for their trade modules. It asks that the people signing the setup form already be authorised under the corporate authority the bank holds. If your board resolution or mandate from account opening names the wrong people, or is silent on electronic banking, the form is where that gap surfaces. So read the existing mandate before the setup form, not after.
| Document | What it does | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Straight2Bank Setup and Maintenance Form | Grants the entitlement: accounts, services, users, authorisation powers and limits | Issued by your relationship manager for India; the bank publishes a completion guide for the full-services form |
| Bank's Mandate / board resolution | The corporate authority the setup form's signatories must be covered by | Standard Chartered India publishes a mandate format; the operative copy is the one held from account opening |
| Straight2Bank User Amendment form | Adds, removes or changes users after go-live | Published as a spreadsheet in the India form set |
| Straight2Bank Vasco Token Form | The hardware token used for authentication and authorisation | Published as a PDF in the India form set |
| Straight2Bank Password Reset Form | The documented route when a user is locked out | Published as a PDF in the India form set |
Access path
- 1 Confirm who is authorised under the existing mandate Pull the mandate, board resolution or power of attorney the bank holds from account opening. The setup form's signatories have to be covered by it.
- 2 Ask your relationship manager for the India Setup and Maintenance Form The India form is RM-issued rather than published. The bank's public completion guide for the full-services version is useful preparation for the entitlement, authorisation-power and limit sections.
- 3 Name the trade services and the users on the form Entitlement is per service and per user. Someone who is not listed against trade will log in successfully and still not see the trade menu.
- 4 Order tokens and set authorisation limits Use the Vasco Token Form for hardware tokens. Set maker and authoriser powers deliberately: a single-authoriser setup will stall every time that person travels.
- 5 Log in at the unified login and check the trade menu Verify each user can reach the trade screens before you depend on them for a live shipment.
How do I lodge export documents and raise an LC or bank guarantee on S2B Trade?
The most complete public description of how S2B Trade works is not a trade brochure at all. It is section 1, "Get Started. Overview of Trade", of Standard Chartered's Straight2Bank Trade. Bank Guarantee User Guide, version 2.1 . That section describes the whole document-initiation model before it narrows to guarantees, and it is the only public document that does so.
Its description of document initiation is worth quoting closely, because it settles a question exporters ask constantly. Whether you can submit a batch rather than key transactions one by one. The guide describes submitting invoice summary details either by uploading an excel sheet or quick creation through the web , along with scanned supporting copies of invoices and shipping documents as PDF, with built-in validation and automatic association of the product. Around that sit approval, requests for finance, real-time monitoring of transaction status across the life cycle, limit enquiry, alerts and reports.
Your buyer's tender requires a performance guarantee. You hold Straight2Bank entitlement for trade, and you want to know what the sequence actually is before you promise the buyer a date. Every step below is taken from Standard Chartered's Straight2Bank Trade. Bank Guarantee User Guide version 2.1; nothing is inferred. </> } result={ <> The initiation, the approval and the tracking are all portal work. What the manual does
not
promise is instant issuance: the transaction moves through the bank after your authoriser releases it, and the status view is how you follow it. Charges for the guarantee appear on the transaction and in the pricing sheet in section 7 below. </> } >
- 1. Open the module by the documented path. The guide states that clients access the Bank Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit modules on S2B from the unified login page, and gives two paths: for existing clients, S2B Menu → Trade Finance → Trade Banking → Bank Guarantee / Standby LC; for new clients, S2B Menu → Trade → Create → Bank Guarantee / Standby LC. If your screen matches neither, stop and ask your relationship manager rather than guessing at a nearby menu.
- 2. Create, or start from a template. The guide covers creating a guarantee or standby LC, saving and reusing drafts, and templates. Which is the difference between a five-minute repeat issuance and a fresh keying exercise for a customer you issue to every quarter.
- 3. Attach the supporting set as PDF. Per the overview section, scanned supporting copies go up as PDF alongside the transaction details, and the platform applies built-in validation.
- 4. Authorise. Release follows the maker and authoriser powers set on your Setup and Maintenance Form. Authorisation can also be done from the Straight2Bank mobile app, whose published feature set includes trade authorisation.
- 5. Monitor and correspond. The guide describes a real-time view of transaction status updates throughout the life cycle, including information on advices, interest and charges, plus transaction messages for correspondence, amendment handling, limit enquiry and standard or editable reports.
On the LC side, the India Straight2Bank page states online issuance of letters of credit with the ability to amend, and online advising of export letters of credit, plus receipt of trade reports and advices for letters of credit and documentary collections by email. Separately, the bank has announced a digital request-for-quote capability on Straight2Bank NextGen for LC confirmation and discounting or negotiation pricing. Useful if you currently collect those quotes over email.
How do I get a FIRA or e-FIRC from Standard Chartered Bank India?
Plainly: there is no documented self-service download . As read on 18 August 2026, no Standard Chartered India official page mentions FIRC, FIRA or e-FIRC at all, and none describes a download inside Straight2Bank. This is not a case of a feature being hard to find in a menu; it is a case of the bank publishing nothing on the subject. The route is your relationship manager or the trade service desk.
What Straight2Bank does publish, and what people mistake for a FIRA, is the document-delivery feature set: delivery of trade documents such as SWIFT messages together with email alerts, and the ability to make enquiries about deal-related documents online. A SWIFT MT103 copy is evidence that money moved. It is not a Foreign Inward Remittance Advice, and an auditor, a scheme authority or a GST refund officer asking for a FIRA will not accept one in its place.
When you raise the request, give the desk everything it needs in one message: the remittance date and amount, the currency, the remitter name, the SWIFT reference or UTR from the credit advice, the invoice and shipping bill numbers the proceeds relate to, and the purpose for which you need the certificate. A request that arrives complete usually comes back once; a request that arrives as "please send FIRA for last month" comes back as a question.
How do I handle an inward remittance and declare the purpose code?
This is the second published blank, and it deserves the same plainness. No Standard Chartered India page found as of 18 August 2026 describes an online inward-remittance disposal or purpose-code workflow, and no India disposal-instruction form appears by name in the Download Centre. The India Trade Finance Standard Forms are published only as an undocumented ZIP bundle, so the disposal format your bank wants may well be inside it. But the bank does not say so on any page.
What the India pages do document on the inward side is notification, not disposal: the International Trade Account offers an e-Alert facility covering remittance transactions. The remittance features documented on Straight2Bank itself are outward. RTGS, NEFT, demand drafts and telegraphic transfers. Practically, that means you should assume your inward disposal instruction goes to the bank as a document, on the bank's format, until your relationship manager tells you otherwise in writing.
Straight2Bank's documented delivery features cover SWIFT messages with email alerts and online enquiry of deal-related documents; the International Trade Account adds an e-Alert on remittance transactions. </>), soThat: (<> Pull the reference from the portal or the alert first. The disposal instruction and every later request (certificate, EDPMS closure) is keyed off it. </>), }, , , , ]} conclusion= />
How do I regularise shipping bills in EDPMS and get my eBRC?
Third published blank, same treatment. No Standard Chartered India page, form index or user guide found as of 18 August 2026 references EDPMS, IDPMS, shipping bill closure or a closure request letter. The one generic online submission channel the bank documents is S2B Trade's document initiation (the upload of invoices and shipping documents as PDF) and the bank describes that for trade product initiation and financing, not for regularisation. It would be an invention to tell you to use it for EDPMS closure, so we will not.
What you can do is ask precisely. Two questions to your relationship manager settle the whole workflow: which channel does the bank want closure documents through, and what letter format does it want them in. Ask at the same time whether the closure letter format sits inside the India Trade Finance Standard Forms bundle, since several of the bank's unpublished India formats live there. Our EDPMS reporting guide and the realisation-pending letter template cover what a bank normally needs in that pack.
The eBRC question has a cleaner answer, and it is not a bank answer at all. Under the current DGFT system the authorised dealer bank transmits Inward Remittance Messages to DGFT, and the exporter self-certifies the eBRC on the DGFT portal . So the ask you take to Standard Chartered is never "send me my eBRC"; it is "push, or correct, my IRM". See our eBRC filing guide .
Which trade tasks work in Straight2Bank and which need the branch or your RM?
This is the honest core of the page. Every verdict below comes from what Standard Chartered itself publishes, read on 18 August 2026. Where the bank documents a capability, the table says portal. Where the bank publishes nothing, the table says so. It does not guess, and it does not soften. An undocumented task is not a hidden feature; it is a question for your relationship manager.
| Task | Where | What the bank actually publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Lodge export documents / bills | Portal | S2B Trade initiates documents by Excel upload or web creation with scanned PDFs, with built-in validation. But no India export-bill or collections guide is published, so confirm which of your export products this covers |
| Apply for or advise an LC | Portal | India pages state online issuance of letters of credit with amendment, and online advising of export letters of credit |
| Issue a bank guarantee or standby LC | Portal | Documented end to end in the Straight2Bank Trade Bank Guarantee User Guide v2.1, with named menu paths, create, amend, templates and transaction messages |
| Track bill or transaction status | Portal | Real-time status across the transaction life cycle, advices, interest and charges, limit enquiry, reports and intraday email alerts; the mobile app adds trade enquiry. Note this tracks bank transactions. No source says it shows EDPMS outstanding status |
| Book a forward contract | Portal (separate FX platform) | Booking of cash, tom, spot and forward rates on a proprietary FX platform with real-time prices for over 100 currency pairs. Not the S2B trade screens, and named differently on India and global pages |
| Cancel, roll over or take early delivery of a forward | Confirm with your relationship manager | No official page states these can be done online |
| Import payment initiation | Portal | The India page names import payments among the transactions the S2B Trade platform helps you initiate online |
| Bill of Entry settlement marking / IDPMS reconciliation | Confirm with your relationship manager | No official source describes BOE upload, settlement marking or IDPMS reconciliation on the portal |
| Inward remittance disposal and purpose code declaration | Confirm with your relationship manager | No online disposal or purpose-code workflow is documented, and no India disposal form is listed by name; the documented inward feature is an e-Alert, which is notification only |
| Download a FIRA or e-FIRC | Confirm with your relationship manager | No self-serve download is documented anywhere on Standard Chartered India's pages. SWIFT copies and deal document enquiry are published, and a SWIFT copy is not a FIRA |
| EDPMS regularisation / closure request letter | Confirm with your relationship manager | No page, form index or guide references EDPMS, IDPMS or shipping bill closure; ask for the channel and the letter format, and check the India Trade Finance Standard Forms bundle |
| eBRC | DGFT portal, not the bank | The bank transmits IRMs to DGFT and the exporter self-certifies on the DGFT portal; the bank-side ask is an IRM push or correction. A physical BRC is separately priced |
LC issuance and amendment, export LC advising, bank guarantee and standby LC, import payments, document initiation, status tracking. All named on Standard Chartered's own India pages or in the Bank Guarantee user guide. </>), soThat: (<> Start in Straight2Bank. Use the documented menu paths; if your screen does not match, that is an entitlement question, not a navigation one. </>), }, , , , ]} conclusion= />
What do these tasks cost?
The charges an Indian exporter on Straight2Bank actually meets, transcribed verbatim from Standard Chartered's Schedule of Service Charges for Trade Products. Standard Pricing , which the bank links as "Trade standard pricing" from its India schedule of charges page. Straight2Bank access and export realisation checklist
Access (one-time)
- The mandate, board resolution or power of attorney held by the bank from account opening pulled and read, with the signatory list checked against who will actually sign
- Straight2Bank Setup and Maintenance Form obtained from your relationship manager, with trade services and every trade user named on it
- Maker and authoriser powers and limits set so that no single person's absence stops a release
- Vasco tokens ordered and activated for each authoriser, using the Vasco Token Form
- Password Reset Form and User Amendment form saved locally, so a lockout or a leaver does not become a week of email
- Each user logged in once and confirmed they can reach the trade menu before a live shipment depends on it
- Written confirmation from your relationship manager on the four undocumented areas: inward disposal and purpose code format, FIRA or certificate requests, EDPMS closure channel and letter format, and forward contract cancellation
Recurring export realisation cycle
- Every inward credit read from the portal or e-Alert, and the disposal instruction sent on the bank's format with the purpose code and shipping bill mapping decided in advance
- Open bills reviewed monthly against the nine-month realisation period from date of export. Which applies to all exporters, including SEZ units, EOUs and Status Holders, with fifteen months only for goods exported to a warehouse outside India
- Overdue bills chased before they accrue the per-bill overdue commission, and extension requests raised ahead of the deadline rather than after it
- Closure documents sent through whichever channel your relationship manager confirmed, in the format they specified
- eBRC self-certified on the DGFT portal from the bank-pushed IRMs; missing or wrong IRMs raised with the bank as an IRM correction, not as a certificate request
- Certificate requests sent complete: date, amount, currency, remitter, SWIFT or UTR reference, invoice and shipping bill numbers, and the reason you need it
- Transaction status, advices, charges and reports pulled from the portal monthly and filed against each shipment
