What is Canara Bank FX4U and where do I find it inside net banking?
FX4U (branded "FX 4 U" at its December 2020 launch, when it covered outward remittances only) is Canara Bank's set of forex and trade modules inside Canara Bank Net Banking . There is no separate FX4U login URL. You reach the modules from within retail or Corporate Internet Banking (CINB), and Corporate Internet Banking users also see FX4U and Trade Finance inside the Canara ai1-Corporate mobile app .
What you see depends on which banking tier you are on. Retail net banking exposes a single FX4U outward-remittance function. Corporate Internet Banking exposes the full module family:
| Channel | FX4U modules available |
|---|---|
| Retail Net Banking | FX4U. Outward Remittance only |
| Corporate Internet Banking (CINB) | FX4U - Exports; FX4U - Foreign LC; FX4U - Non Import Outward Remittance; FX4U - Imports; FX4U Beneficiary Maintenance; Import Advance Payment |
| Canara ai1-Corporate app | FX4U plus Trade Finance viewing (LCs, BGs, Packing Credit) and export credit applications; eligibility is CINB users |
| CCIL FX-Retail platform | Separate FX rate-booking channel offered by Canara Bank. Distinct from FX4U |
Behind the screens, FX4U transactions flow to Canara Bank's centralized processing units (CPCFT (Centralized Process Centre - Forex Transactions) and GTPC (Global Trade Processing Centre)) which run the compliance checks and put the messages on SWIFT. That architecture matters for the rest of this guide: even "online" transactions end at a back office you may need to follow up with.
How do I activate the FX4U corporate modules (Exports, Foreign LC, Imports, Beneficiary Maintenance)?
The FX4U corporate modules ride on Corporate Internet Banking, so activation is really two layers: first CINB itself, then the forex modules on top of it. Canara Bank does not publish a standalone text manual for FX4U enrolment (the official documentation is the per-module video and audio tutorials on the FX4U hub page) so the practical sequence below combines what the official pages establish with the standard PSU-bank CINB onboarding pattern. Where a step is not documented, treat your branch as the authority.
Activation sequence
- 1 Get Corporate Internet Banking (CINB) on the current account Apply at your branch with the CINB application form and, for companies, a board resolution authorising the users and their transaction limits. Partnerships and proprietorships submit the equivalent authority letters. The FX4U corporate modules are only listed for corporate net banking users on the official net banking page.
- 2 Ask the branch to enable the FX4U forex modules for your corporate ID Exports, Foreign LC, Non Import Outward Remittance, Imports, Beneficiary Maintenance and Import Advance Payment are separate module entitlements. Confirm with your branch which modules are switched on for your users and what per-transaction limits apply. The exact entitlement form is not published online.
- 3 Set up beneficiaries in FX4U Beneficiary Maintenance Foreign beneficiaries (buyers, suppliers, service providers) are registered once in the Beneficiary Maintenance module and then reused across remittance transactions. Keep SWIFT/BIC codes and account details exactly as they appear on the counterparty's bank letterhead.
- 4 Add the ai1-Corporate app if you want mobile visibility CINB users can use the Canara ai1-Corporate app to view LCs, bank guarantees and Packing Credit and to apply for export credit, alongside the FX4U functions. Per the official app page.
How do I get a FIRC or eBRC from Canara Bank and what does it cost?
This is the section most Canara exporters search for, and the honest answer is: no official Canara Bank page documents a self-service FIRC, e-FIRC or FIRA download inside net banking or FX4U. These are bank-issued certificates, produced through the branch and GTPC, and priced on the forex service charges annexure effective 02.02.2026.
| Certificate | How you get it | Charge (as published, effective 02.02.2026) |
|---|---|---|
| FIRC / e-FIRC | Written request to the branch referencing the inward remittance; issued by the bank (branch/GTPC). No self-serve download documented. | Rs 500/- per Certificate; Rs. 1,000/- for issue of duplicate certificate/Revalidation |
| eBRC / BRC | Bank pushes realisation data (IRMs) to DGFT; you self-certify the eBRC on the DGFT portal. Canara-side work is branch/GTPC, not FX4U. | Rs. 75/- per SB/GR realization for legacy cases |
| Other certificates (EDF waiver/approval/exemption, delivery order, attestations) | Branch request, same annexure line as FIRC (1.D.2) | Rs 500/- per Certificate |

For the eBRC specifically, remember that since DGFT's self-certification regime the certificate is generated by you on the DGFT portal from the IRM data your bank reports. Canara Bank's role is to report the realisation correctly and on time. The full process is in our eBRC filing guide . For what a FIRA looks like from payment providers versus banks, see our FIRA download guide .
How does inward remittance disposal and purpose-code declaration work with Canara (branch and GTPC)?
When an export payment arrives via SWIFT, Canara Bank cannot credit it until the purpose is established and disposal instructions are on record. The FX4U module list on the official net banking page contains no inward-remittance disposal module. The documented process runs through the branch and GTPC. Canara Bank's Cross-Border Remittance Documentation guide describes branch/GTPC processing and a two-working-day credit norm for inward remittances up to USD 10,000; how you submit the disposal instruction (branch visit or email to GTPC) is not stated on official pages, so confirm the channel with your relationship manager.

Compare like with like and never average across units. The schedule also notes no additional service charges for reconciliation/closure of small value E/IDPMS transactions as per revised RBI Directions.
Which trade tasks work in FX4U and which still go through the branch or GTPC?
This table is built strictly from Canara Bank's official pages (read August 2026). "Portal" means an FX4U module is documented; "Branch" means the official documents describe a branch/GTPC process; "Confirm with your RM" means no official evidence exists either way. We do not guess.
| Task | Where it happens | What the official pages show |
|---|---|---|
| Lodge export documents / bills | Portal | FX4U - Exports module listed under corporate net banking, with a dedicated official tutorial; the exact submission workflow is documented only in video/audio form |
| Apply for / advise an LC | Portal | FX4U - Foreign LC module; launch communication said corporates can make and submit LC applications with documents through internet banking, flowing to CPCFT |
| Import payments against Bill of Entry / advance | Portal | FX4U - Imports and Import Advance Payment modules on the official FX4U and net banking pages |
| Download FIRC / e-FIRC / FIRA | Branch | Bank-issued certificates per the 02.02.2026 charges annexure (Rs 500/- per Certificate); no official page shows a self-service download inside net banking or FX4U |
| eBRC / BRC support | Branch | Bank pushes realisation data; exporter self-prints eBRC on the DGFT portal. Canara side is branch/GTPC, not FX4U |
| Inward remittance disposal / purpose-code declaration | Confirm with your RM | No disposal module in the FX4U list; the cross-border documentation guide describes branch/GTPC processing but does not state the instruction channel |
| EDPMS / IDPMS regularisation submissions | Confirm with your RM | No official page describes EDPMS/IDPMS regularisation via FX4U or net banking. Route via branch/GTPC until told otherwise |
| Book / cancel a forward contract | Confirm with your RM | No FX4U forward module; the separate CCIL FX-Retail platform exists, but whether exporter forwards are bookable there vs treasury/branch is not established from official pages |
| Issue a foreign bank guarantee | Confirm with your RM | ai1-Corporate app offers viewing of BGs; FBG is described only as a branch product on the export finance page |
| Track shipping bill / export bill status | Confirm with your RM | ai1-Corporate lists Trade Finance viewing of LCs, BGs and Packing Credit, but export bill/shipping bill status tracking is not explicitly named on any official page |
The pattern: money going out is online; proof of money coming in is not. FX4U genuinely digitises outward remittances, import payments, LC applications and export bill lodgement. But the documents an exporter needs back from the bank (FIRC, eBRC data, EDPMS closure) remain branch/GTPC workflows with no documented self-serve path. If a colleague at an Axis or ICICI shop describes downloading things from their portal, know that the equivalent at Canara is a request letter. Compare Axis TF Connect and ICICI Trade Online for how those banks document the same tasks.
A Tirupur garment exporter's US buyer wires USD 8,000 as an advance against an order on Monday. The exporter banks with Canara Bank on Corporate Internet Banking with FX4U enabled. Here is the trail, using Canara Bank's
Cross-Border Remittance Documentation guide
and the charges annexure effective 02.02.2026. </> } result= >
- Day 0: SWIFT credit lands at Canara Bank's processing centre. Because the amount is within the USD 10,000 threshold (USD 8,000 ≤ USD 10,000), the cross-border documentation guide's two-working-day credit norm applies once the paperwork is complete.
- Day 0. 1: The branch/GTPC needs the purpose established: exporter submits the disposal instruction with purpose code P0103 (advance against exports), the proforma invoice and buyer details. No FX4U screen exists for this. It goes to the branch/GTPC as instructed by the RM.
- Day 2: Credit to the current account. On the charges annexure the applicable line is "Advance remittance towards export": above Rs. 50,000/-, so Rs.300/- per remittance (the INR equivalent of USD 8,000 is well above Rs. 50,000/-).
- Same week: Exporter requests an e-FIRC for the advance by letter to the branch (Rs 500/- per Certificate on the 1.D.2 annexure line) and files it for the GST and audit trail.
- At shipment: The shipping bill quotes the IRM; documents are lodged through FX4U - Exports, and the exporter follows up with GTPC to knock the advance off against the shipping bill in EDPMS so the eBRC can later be self-certified on DGFT.
What should be on my Canara FX4U setup and export documentation checklist?
One-time setup
- Corporate Internet Banking active on the export current account, with board resolution / authority letters and user limits on file at the branch
- FX4U corporate modules enabled for your ID. Confirm the branch has switched on Exports, Foreign LC, Imports, Non Import Outward Remittance, Beneficiary Maintenance and Import Advance Payment as needed
- Foreign beneficiaries registered in FX4U Beneficiary Maintenance with SWIFT/BIC details verified against the counterparty's bank letterhead
- Canara ai1-Corporate app installed for mobile viewing of LCs, BGs and Packing Credit (CINB users)
- RM and GTPC contact points recorded. And their answer, in writing, on how your firm should submit inward-remittance disposal instructions and EDPMS regularisation requests
- The current forex charges annexure (w.e.f. 02.02.2026) saved, so invoices from the bank can be checked line by line
Every shipment / remittance
- Correct RBI purpose code declared on day one. A change costs Rs. 500/- within 3 months and Rs. 2,000/- after
- Documentation per Canara Bank's Cross-Border Remittance Documentation guide attached to every FX4U transaction (invoice, transport document, Bill of Entry for import settlement, as applicable)
- FIRC/e-FIRC requested from the branch as each export remittance lands (Rs 500/- per Certificate). Not in a year-end batch
- EDPMS knock-off confirmed with branch/GTPC for every shipping bill once payment is realised, then eBRC self-certified on the DGFT portal
- Realisation tracked against the FEMA nine-month clock from date of export; extension requests (Rs. 500/- per extension) filed before a bill goes overdue, since overdue follow-up itself is charged at Rs. 500/- per bill per quarter
- Forward cover requirements raised with the RM/treasury. Do not assume an online booking path exists at Canara until your RM confirms one
