How Do I Use the Kotak Trade Portal (Kotak fyn) for Exports. Login, FIRA and EDPMS Regularisation?
Kotak's fyn platform for export collections and remittance disposal, the FX Live split, and where the trade desk still owns the task.

What is Kotak fyn, and is the Kotak Trade Portal the same thing?
Kotak fyn (the bank expands it as "For Your Needs") is Kotak Mahindra Bank's business banking platform. It is one portal covering several modules (Trade, Account Services, Collections, Loans and Payments) and Trade sits inside it . Trade was not a later bolt-on: Kotak's own media releases describe Phase 1 of fyn, launched in 2021, as the trade services phase, with the full multi-product platform going live in February 2023.
The confusion is Kotak's own doing. Its 2022 media release announcing fyn still ends by telling readers to click through to the Trade Portal , and the marketing page branded "Trade Portal" is still live today, describing the same feature set as the fyn Trade module. So if you searched "Kotak trade portal login" and landed somewhere that looked different from "Kotak fyn login", you were reading two names for one channel.
| Name you may have seen | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| Kotak fyn. Trade module | The current name. The trade workflow inside the fyn business banking platform. |
| Kotak Trade Portal | The older brand for the same module. Kotak still keeps the Trade Portal page live and it lists the same capabilities. |
| Kotak Net Banking (corporate) | The account underneath. Fyn is reached from it, and uses the same credentials. |
| FX Live | A separate Kotak web platform for foreign exchange rate booking, listed as its own login tile, distinct from "Corporate Banking - Kotak fyn". |
| Branch trade desk / relationship manager | Onboarding paperwork, certificate requests and anything your entitlement does not cover. |
What Kotak claims the Trade module does, in its own words on the fyn Trade page : easy inward disposals, 3 step IDMPS/EDPMS regularisation, letter of credit complete lifecycle, shipping guarantees issuance, import and export collections, and foreign currency remittances (direct, advance and miscellaneous). The Trade Portal page adds the reporting side: status inquiry 24x7, real-time transaction monitoring, a dashboard of transactions and events, IDPMS/EDPMS outstanding details, document submission for regularization, document retrieval, SWIFT message and advice downloads, audit trail, and a library of standard reports.
How do I submit export documents and collections in the Kotak fyn Trade module?
This is where Kotak's documentation gap bites. The fyn Trade page names import and export collections as a module capability, and the Trade Portal page names document submission for regularization and document retrieval . Both are portal claims made by the bank. What no Kotak page provides is a screen-by-screen walkthrough. The DIY User Manual, the only public step-by-step Kotak publishes, covers Home, Account Services, Loans and Collections and skips Trade completely.
So treat the portal as the default lane and the paper set as the fallback that has not disappeared. Two signals in Kotak's own schedule of charges show paper still moves: courier is priced per consignment (INR 750 international, INR 500 domestic, as published effective 1 February 2018), and documents scrutiny is priced per set. Digital submission and a physical set travelling to a counterparty bank are not mutually exclusive.
| Export-side task | What Kotak's own pages say | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Export collections | Named on the fyn Trade page as a module capability | Start in the portal; expect the bank to ask for the underlying set |
| Documents for regularisation | Trade Portal page: document submission for regularization | Portal, with the document set agreed with your RM in advance |
| Retrieving a lodged document | Trade Portal page: document retrieval, SWIFT message and advice downloads | Portal. Note the schedule prices retrieval of older records separately |
| Export LC advising and amendments | fyn Trade page: letter of credit complete lifecycle; priced in the schedule of charges | Portal for the lifecycle; confirm with your relationship manager which sub-steps are self-serve |
| Physical set to the buyer's bank | Not a portal claim; courier is a priced line item | Paper. Budget the courier line on every collection bill |
A Pune engineering exporter ships USD 18,000 of components on 1 September 2026 under a documentary collection. The company banks with Kotak, has net banking, and has just had Trade enabled in fyn. The accountant has never opened fyn before. </> } result= >
- Log in to Kotak Net Banking, switch to the new view, and open Services → FYN. The route set out in Kotak's fyn DIY User Manual . The alternative is the direct login at fyn.kotak.com/customer/portal with the same credentials.
- Open the Trade module. Kotak's fyn Trade page lists import and export collections here; the DIY User Manual does not cover these screens, so the first time through, have the RM on the phone rather than guessing at a field.
- Lodge the collection with the invoice, transport document and shipping bill reference. The maker submits; the checker authorises. Kotak runs trade on maker-checker defined per customer.
- Expect the physical set to still travel: the schedule of charges prices international courier at INR 750 per consignment, so a purely paperless collection is not the bank's own assumption.
- Charge expectation on this bill, from the schedule as published effective 1 February 2018: export bills for collection at 0.075%, minimum INR 750 per bill, plus courier INR 750 and SWIFT INR 500. On USD 18,000 the percentage falls below the floor, so the minimum applies. Confirm the current amounts. That schedule is eight years old.
How do I get a FIRA or FIRC from Kotak Mahindra Bank?
Plainly: no Kotak page documents a self-service FIRA or e-FIRC download from fyn . We looked at the fyn platform page, the fyn Trade page, the legacy Trade Portal page, the inward remittances product page and the DIY User Manual. None of them names a FIRA or FIRC download, a certificate menu, or a request form in the portal.
The only official evidence that FIRA issuance exists at Kotak at all is a fee line in the Trade Services schedule of charges: Issuance of FIRC / FIRA, INR 150 per certificate . A per-certificate charge is the signature of a request-based process (someone at the bank produces a document and bills for it) not of a download button. Third-party blogs assert a portal download; none of them cite a Kotak page, and neither will we.
| What you want | Documented position at Kotak | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| FIRA / FIRC certificate | Priced in the schedule of charges; no portal download documented | Request it. Confirm with your relationship manager |
| Proof a remittance arrived | Trade Portal page lists SWIFT message and advice downloads | Portal. But an advice is not a FIRA |
| eBRC for a DGFT scheme | No Kotak page or charge line mentions BRC or eBRC at all | DGFT portal. You self-certify against the IRM the bank reports |
| A bank letter for IEC or a scheme | Schedule of charges: bank certificate / letter for IEC or any other purpose | Branch or relationship manager request |
On eBRC specifically: under DGFT's current system the AD bank transmits the Inward Remittance Message to DGFT and the exporter self-certifies the eBRC on the DGFT portal by mapping the IRM to shipping bills and invoices. So the Kotak-side action is accurate IRM reporting , and the certificate action is yours on DGFT. Our eBRC filing guide covers that side, and the FIRA download guide covers what the document is and who issues it.
How do I dispose an inward remittance and set the right purpose code in Kotak fyn?
This one is squarely in the portal, and Kotak says so twice. The fyn Trade page lists easy inward disposals as a module capability, and Kotak's inward remittances product page describes an online solution for inward remittance settlement through corporate internet banking, across seventeen currencies. An inward credit sits pending until you tell the bank what it is. That instruction is the disposal.
| What the disposal carries | Why it matters later |
|---|---|
| RBI purpose code | Drives how the remittance is reported, whether it can be matched to a shipping bill in EDPMS, and whether the IRM reaches DGFT usable for eBRC |
| Settlement account | Current account conversion versus an EEFC credit changes what exchange-related commission applies |
| Underlying reference | The invoice or shipping bill the money answers to. The link EDPMS regularisation will need |
| Supporting documents, where asked | Kotak's disposal wording notes that where the purpose is an advance receipt against a merchanting trade export leg, or an other-receipt category, additional documents may have to be submitted in consultation with the branch |
Marketplace sellers have a harder version of this problem: one payout aggregates many orders, and the code has to describe the underlying goods export rather than the platform. Our marketplace receipts purpose code guide works through that case.
How do I regularise EDPMS shipping bills and IDPMS bills of entry with Kotak?
Kotak makes its strongest portal claim here. The fyn Trade page advertises 3 step IDMPS/EDPMS regularisation , and the Trade Portal page lists IDPMS/EDPMS outstanding details alongside document submission for regularization . So the outstanding list and the submission both live in the portal. What Kotak never publishes is what those three steps are. There is no walkthrough, no video, no manual chapter.
Practically, regularisation is always the same shape regardless of bank: identify the open item, evidence the money against it, and submit the request the bank needs to close it. Under FEMA, export proceeds must be realised and repatriated within nine months from the date of export , and that nine-month period applies to all exporters, including SEZ units, EOUs and Status Holder exporters. The only longer window is fifteen months , and it applies solely to goods exported to a warehouse outside India. Our EDPMS reporting guide covers the mechanics in detail.
| Situation | Route | Charge line in Kotak's schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping bill realised, still showing open | Portal: match the IRM and submit for regularisation | Export bills received for Regularization. 0.075%; Min. INR 750 per bill |
| Payment received in advance of the export | Portal, same regularisation route (the charge line names this case explicitly) | Export bills received for Regularization. 0.075%; Min. INR 750 per bill |
| Realisation will miss the nine-month deadline | Extension request. Raise it before the deadline, not after | Extension of time beyond stipulated period of realization from the date of export (ETX). INR 1500 |
| Small shortfall that will never be paid | Write-off or invoice-value reduction request | Export Bill Write off / Reduction of invoice value. INR 750 |
| Import payment against a Bill of Entry (IDPMS) | Portal for the remittance and the same regularisation claim; a bulk BOE upload utility is not documented anywhere on Kotak's site | Advance / Direct Import Remittance. 0.125%; minimum INR 1,000 + Swift Charges INR 500 |
If a bill is stuck because the money genuinely came late, or came through a marketplace in a form that does not obviously map to the shipping bill, the request letter matters more than the portal screen. Our export realisation pending letter guide and the small-value EDPMS closure guide cover the wording and the evidence set banks generally accept.
Which trade tasks work in Kotak fyn, and which still need the branch or RM?
This is the honest core of the guide. The table below reports only what Kotak's own pages and its schedule of charges support. Where the bank has published nothing, the entry says so. It does not guess a menu path or a button label, because inventing one is how an exporter ends up hunting for a screen that does not exist.
| Task | Where it happens | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Inward remittance disposal and purpose code | Portal | fyn Trade page: easy inward disposals; inward remittances page: online settlement through corporate internet banking |
| EDPMS / IDPMS regularisation and outstanding list | Portal | fyn Trade page: 3 step IDMPS/EDPMS regularisation; Trade Portal page: outstanding details, document submission for regularization |
| Export and import collections | Portal | fyn Trade page: import and export collections. The pages never use the phrase "export bill lodgement" |
| Bill and shipping-bill status tracking, SWIFT copies | Portal | Trade Portal page: status inquiry 24x7, dashboard, standard reports, audit trail, SWIFT message and advice downloads |
| Letter of credit lifecycle (including export LC advising) | Portal | fyn Trade page: letter of credit complete lifecycle; advising, transfer and confirmation are priced in the schedule. Which sub-steps are self-serve is not published |
| Booking a forward contract | A different portal. FX Live | FX Live is described as a web-based foreign exchange rate booking platform covering forward maturities, with forward deals confirmed online; it is a separate login tile from Kotak fyn |
| FIRA or FIRC certificate | No self-serve download documented. Confirm with your relationship manager | Only evidence is the fee line Issuance of FIRC / FIRA, INR 150 per certificate. No Kotak page names a download |
| Cancelling or early-utilising a forward contract | Channel not published. Confirm with your relationship manager | Priced in the schedule, but no page names a channel; the schedule also prices forward contract franking paper to be attached with the confirmation, implying a physical step |
| Bank Guarantee or SBLC issuance | Not claimed online. Confirm with your relationship manager | fyn Trade names shipping guarantees only. BG and SBLC are products and are priced, but no page claims online issuance |
| AD Code letter for customs | Branch / RM request | Priced per letter in the schedule; no portal request flow is published |
| SOFTEX filing (services exporters) | Not documented in fyn. Confirm with your relationship manager | SOFTEX handling is priced per SOFTEX, but no Kotak page names a SOFTEX module in fyn |
| eBRC generation | Not a bank task. DGFT portal | No Kotak page or charge line mentions BRC or eBRC; the bank reports the IRM and you self-certify on DGFT |

Kotak fyn Trade setup and EDPMS closure checklist
One-time setup
- Corporate net banking working, and the Services → FYN route tested from inside net banking as well as the direct login at fyn.kotak.com/customer/portal
- Kotak fyn trade services authorization form obtained from your relationship manager. The current version, not a third-party re-upload
- Board Resolution or Authority Letter naming the authorised users and their limits, with MOA/AOA and Certificate of Incorporation for companies, or the partnership deed for firms
- Maker and checker users decided, mapped and both tested with a low-value transaction before a deadline depends on them
- Written confirmation from the RM on the four undocumented areas: FIRA request route, BG or SBLC issuance channel, forward cancellation channel, and whether any bulk Bill of Entry upload exists
- The standard reports you will need identified once, so the monthly pull is a repeat rather than a hunt
Recurring EDPMS closure cycle
- Dispose every inward credit promptly in fyn with the correct RBI purpose code and the underlying invoice or shipping bill reference. A later purpose-code change is chargeable and breaks EDPMS matching
- Pull the IDPMS/EDPMS outstanding view monthly and sort by date of export
- Match realised remittances to open shipping bills and submit for regularisation in the portal; keep the evidence bundle the RM agreed at onboarding
- Track the nine-month realisation clock: export proceeds must be realised within nine months from the date of export for all exporters, including SEZ, EOU and Status Holder exporters, and the fifteen-month window applies only to goods exported to a warehouse outside India
- Raise an extension request before the deadline passes, not after. The schedule prices ETX as a per-request charge
- Book genuinely unrecoverable shortfalls as a write-off or invoice-value reduction rather than leaving the bill open and accruing follow-up charges
- Self-certify the eBRC on the DGFT portal from the IRMs the bank reports; bring only missing or wrong IRMs back to Kotak
- Request FIRAs at the time of the remittance, not in a year-end batch, since issuance is per certificate and request-based
