How Do I Use DBS IDEAL for Export Trade. Login, FIRC and EDPMS Regularisation?

IDEAL's trade module. Onboarding, document submission, remittance handling, and the capability verdicts drawn from DBS's own guides.

What is DBS IDEAL 3.0 and where is the trade module inside it?

DBS IDEAL 3.0 is DBS Bank India's online business banking platform. The single most useful structural fact, and the one search results obscure: there is no separate DBS trade portal . DBS India publishes two marketing trees (one under SME Banking and one under Corporate Banking) that describe the same IDEAL product, with the same login. Trade sits inside IDEAL as a set of separately entitled services, alongside two sub-modules DBS names and documents on their own pages: DigiDocs for document upload, and Regulatory Reporting and Reconciliation (R3) , the customer-facing IDPMS and EDPMS platform.

Knowing which channel owns which job saves you hunting for a feature in the wrong place. Every row below is named on DBS India's own pages or on the IDEAL application form.

ChannelWhat it is for
DBS IDEAL 3.0 (desktop)The platform itself: payments, trade applications, account information. India login host is ideal.dbs.bank.in
DBS IDEAL Mobile appCompanion app; also carries the DBS IDEAL digital token+ used as the second factor for desktop login, and can book FX
DigiDocs for TradeIn-portal upload of the scanned supporting documents for trade applications and incoming payments, with a checklist prompt and re-upload through "Manage attached documents"
R3 (Regulatory Reporting and Reconciliation)The IDPMS and EDPMS customer platform: bill lodgment, invoice to IRM mapping, extensions, closures, ageing and pendency dashboards
DBS FX OnlineSeparate FX front end that uses the same token, username and password as IDEAL; books FX in multiple currencies up to a year in advance
IDEAL Connect / H2H and DBS RAPIDFile-based connectivity and API / host-to-host ERP integration for higher volumes; IDEAL Connect for trade carries a separate setup fee
IDEAL SHIFTDashboard and custom-reporting tier named in the DBS India tariff schedule

How do I switch on Trade, EDPMS/IDPMS and DigiDocs (board resolution and IEC)?

This is where most DBS exporters are stuck without realising it. Your finance team may already log in to IDEAL every morning to release payments. And still have no trade module, because trade is not part of the base entitlement. On the DBS IDEAL Application and Maintenance Pack every service is a separate tick with its own maker and authoriser role matrix. The trade-relevant ones are set out below, with the service descriptions as the form words them.

Service on the IDEAL formWhat it coversUsers needed
Trade (Doc Trade)Sending new trade applications including documentary credit, documentary collection, guarantees and standby LC, and trade loanMaker and authoriser roles ticked per user
EDPMS/IDPMS regularizationThe export and import bill regularisation module as per RBI mandate. The R3 platformTwo users: one maker and one authoriser, per the form
Digi DocSupporting document upload, including the upload embedded in the telegraphic transfer initiation screen for A1 and A2 paymentsPer-user entitlement
Incoming Telegraphic TransfersViewing incoming payments and submitting disposal instructions through upload using Digi DocPer-user entitlement
FX OnlineEntering foreign exchange transactions in DBS FX Online through electronic modeOn a single control basis, per the form

Activation path

  1. 1 Decide the two people first EDPMS/IDPMS needs a maker and a separate authoriser. If one person is to hold both roles anywhere on the pack, DBS publishes a Risk Disclosure Statement for the Application of Single Control that has to go with it. And FX Online is described as single control in any case.
  2. 2 Fill the IDEAL Application and Maintenance Pack Tick Trade (Doc Trade), EDPMS/IDPMS regularization, Digi Doc, Incoming Telegraphic Transfers and FX Online according to what you actually do. Existing customers can instead use DBS's online IDEAL Maintenance e-form to add or modify services. DBS also publishes an IDEAL Maintenance Form Guide that walks through the fields.
  3. 3 Write the IEC into Additional Information The form carries an explicit footnote: mention the IEC code in additional information if EDPMS/IDPMS is selected. Leaving it blank is the most common reason an otherwise complete pack comes back.
  4. 4 Attach the constitution document in DBS's format Companies submit the Electronic Banking Services Board Resolution ; partnerships, LLPs and proprietorships submit the matching declaration, each published standalone or in a combined format on the DBS India forms list.

How do I lodge export documents and attach them with DigiDocs?

Two things happen when you lodge an export bill with DBS, and it helps to keep them apart. The application is digital: the R3 page lists bill lodgment among its export features, reached through DBS's existing online banking portal, IDEAL. The IDEAL comprehensive services FAQ separately lists export bills under letter of credit and export bills under collections as IDEAL trade applications. The originals, however, still travel: DBS's own Export Bills Under Collection product page tells customers to submit and collect documents at DBS branches.

DigiDocs is the part that removes the email thread. DBS documents it as an in-portal upload with a checklist prompt telling you which documents the application needs, a "Manage attached documents" route for re-uploading when something is rejected or replaced, and no separate application to raise. The upload is attached to the transaction you are already creating. On the payments side the same capability is embedded in the telegraphic transfer initiation screen so an A1 or A2 supporting set goes up with the payment instruction rather than after it.

An engineering exporter ships against a USD 42,000 invoice on an open-account basis, gets the shipping bill number from ICEGATE, and is paid five weeks later by telegraphic transfer. The finance manager has Trade, EDPMS/IDPMS, Digi Doc and Incoming Telegraphic Transfers entitled on IDEAL, with a colleague as authoriser. </> } result= >

  1. Create the trade transaction. The DBS IDEAL Getting Started Guide gives the navigation as Trade Finance >> Manage >> Transaction Create . The maker raises the export bill application here; the authoriser releases it.
  2. Attach the document set with DigiDocs. The checklist prompt shows what the application needs. If a scan is rejected, it goes back up through "Manage attached documents" rather than as a fresh application.
  3. Present the originals as the product page requires. For bills under collection, DBS says to submit and collect documents at a branch.
  4. Track it. The Getting Started Guide gives Trade Finance >> Manage >> Recent Activity for the status of what you have submitted; R3 adds the lodgment and realisation report and the ageing view.
  5. Map the money when it lands. The inward remittance appears as an incoming telegraphic transfer with a disposal instruction to submit; in R3, invoice to IRM mapping then ties the realised amount to the open shipping bill and the bill is adjusted or closed.
  6. Ask for the certificate you need. R3's export feature list includes an E-FIRC issuance request, with an eFIRC issuance report to track it, and an eBRC advice download.

Navigation paths quoted from the DBS IDEAL Getting Started Guide ; feature names quoted from the DBS India R3 page and the DigiDocs for Trade page . Read August 2026. Screens DBS does not publish are described by function, not by invented menu label.

How do I get a FIRC, FIRA or eBRC advice from DBS Bank India?

Start with vocabulary, because searching DBS for "FIRA" returns very little. DBS says FIRC. Its R3 export feature list carries an "E-FIRC issuance request", and its export report list carries an "eFIRC issuance report". Its tariff schedule prices FIRC issuance and FIRC re-issuance as separate lines. Nowhere does DBS India use the term FIRA, so map your query before you conclude the feature is absent.

DocumentWhat DBS documentsHow you get it
e-FIRC"E-FIRC issuance request" listed among R3 export features, with an "eFIRC issuance report" among R3 export reportsRaise the request in R3 and track it on the report. No DBS page documents an instant download or a turnaround time
FIRAGeneric industry term; not used anywhere on DBS India's own pagesSearch and ask for FIRC instead. That is the document DBS names, prices and issues
BRCPriced as its own line in the DBS India tariff scheduleA bank-issued certificate on request; see the charges table below for the published rate
eBRC (DGFT)R3 export reports include an "eBRC advice download". The bank-side advice, not the DGFT certificateSelf-certify the eBRC on the DGFT portal from the bank-reported IRM; see our eBRC filing guide

For the eBRC itself, route the work to DGFT rather than to DBS. Under DGFT's revised system the bank reports the inward remittance message and the exporter self-certifies the eBRC on the DGFT portal; what R3 gives you is the bank-side advice and evidence. DBS publishes nothing about the DGFT-side step. How the certificates differ, and which one a scheme actually wants, is in our FIRC vs BRC guide and our FIRA download guide .

How do I handle an inward remittance disposal instruction and its purpose code?

DBS entitles this as its own service. The IDEAL application pack describes Incoming Telegraphic Transfer as viewing and submitting disposal instructions through upload using Digi Doc. So the disposal instruction is a portal action supported by an uploaded document, not an email to the trade desk. The DigiDocs page adds an e-notification to the customer for incoming payments, which is what enables immediate credit once your instruction is in.

The discipline that matters is speed. Every unsettled credit is an IRM that cannot be mapped to a shipping bill, and every unmapped IRM is an EDPMS entry that stays open against the realisation clock. Under FEMA, export proceeds must be realised and repatriated within nine months from the date of export. That period applies to all exporters, including SEZ units, EOUs and Status Holders. The only longer window is for goods exported to a warehouse outside India, where the period is fifteen months. Treat disposal as a same-day task, not a month-end one.

How do I regularise shipping bills in EDPMS using the DBS R3 portal?

R3 is the piece of the DBS stack an exporter should care about most, and the piece that is least visible from the outside. DBS describes it as a platform that helps you track and monitor your regulatory reportings and pendencies across all export and import transactions, with a customisable dashboard, ageing data for timely closures, and the ability to raise multiple service requests for export processes and so minimise interaction with the bank. Here is what DBS names on that page, split by side.

SideFeatures DBS listsReports DBS lists
Export (EDPMS)Bill lodgment; invoice to IRM mapping; extension of bill payment and IRM extension request; bill adjustment or closure; E-FIRC issuance requestLodgment and realisation report; inward remittance outstanding report; eFIRC issuance report; eBRC advice download
Import (IDPMS)Invoice to ORM mapping; BoE extension, adjustment and closure; other bank BoE to ORM mappingImport bill utilization report; BoE settlement report; service request reports; ORM outstanding report

One detail in the tariff schedule tells you something the product pages do not: DBS prices EDPMS regularisation on an automated basis, and prices the import-side IDPMS update as manual or automated. Both paths exist side by side, and they are not priced the same. On the import side the difference between the manual and automated per-Bill-of-Entry rate is a factor of two on the published schedule. Whether a given request lands on the automated path is a bank-side determination, so if your volumes are high enough for that to matter, ask your relationship manager what puts a request on the automated path. Our EDPMS reporting guide covers the mechanics that sit underneath whichever channel you use.

Which DBS trade tasks work in IDEAL and which still need a branch or your RM?

This is the honest core of the page. Every verdict below is taken from what DBS India itself publishes, read in August 2026. Where DBS documents nothing, the row says so rather than filling the gap with a plausible guess.

TaskWhere it happensWhat DBS documents
Lodge export documents / billsPortalBill lodgment listed as an R3 export feature via IDEAL; export bills under LC and under collections listed as IDEAL trade applications. Originals still go to a branch for bills under collection

What do these tasks cost?

Two structural things about DBS trade pricing. First, almost every trade line is account-variant dependent. The schedule sets out thirteen variants and the same service can be free on one and four figures on another, so the amounts are reproduced with their variant qualifiers intact. Second, several things exporters ask about. LC issuance commission, export LC confirmation, guarantee issuance commission, forward booking and cancellation, conversion margin and bill crystallisation. Are not published anywhere by DBS India and appear to be negotiated. Charges below are exclusive of GST; agent and foreign bank charges are on actuals.

Amounts are reproduced verbatim with their account-variant qualifiers; flat, percentage and per-unit charges use different units, so compare like with like. Checklist for activating DBS IDEAL trade and closing EDPMS entries

Activation (one-time)

  • IDEAL access live at ideal.dbs.bank.in, with the DBS IDEAL digital token+ set up on the mobile app for every user who will log in
  • Two named people identified for EDPMS/IDPMS (one maker, one authoriser) before the form is filled, not after
  • IDEAL Application and Maintenance Pack completed with Trade (Doc Trade), EDPMS/IDPMS regularization, Digi Doc, Incoming Telegraphic Transfers and FX Online ticked as required
  • IEC code written into Additional Information on the form. Mandatory when EDPMS/IDPMS is selected
  • Board Resolution, or the Partnership, LLP or Proprietorship declaration, in DBS's published format, drafted wide enough to cover the services and users you will need this year
  • Risk Disclosure Statement for the Application of Single Control attached if any one person is to be both maker and authoriser
  • Cut-off times noted from the DBS IDEAL cut-off time document, including the 3:30 pm weekday telegraphic transfer cut-off on the application pack
  • Two answers obtained in writing from your relationship manager: where the RBI purpose code is keyed, and the channel for cancelling or rolling over an FX contract

Recurring EDPMS closure cycle

  • Clear incoming telegraphic transfers daily: submit the disposal instruction with the correct purpose code and upload the supporting set through Digi Doc
  • Map invoices to IRMs in R3 as realisations land, and adjust or close the bill rather than leaving it part-utilised
  • Run the R3 ageing view and the inward remittance outstanding report monthly against the nine-month realisation window. Fifteen months only for goods exported to a warehouse outside India
  • Raise IRM extension or bill payment extension requests before the deadline, not after; the approval line is priced per approval on the published tariff
  • Keep trade requests inside IDEAL wherever the product is available there. Off-channel requests carry an additional published charge
  • Raise the E-FIRC issuance request in R3 when a scheme, buyer or auditor needs the certificate, and track it on the eFIRC issuance report
  • Self-certify the eBRC on the DGFT portal from the bank-reported IRM; keep the R3 eBRC advice download as your bank-side evidence
  • On the import side, map invoices to ORMs and close BoEs in R3, including other-bank BoE to ORM mapping where the payment went through a different AD bank
